چکیده

Quantum cryptography is the art and science of exploiting quantum mechanical effects in order to perform cryptographic tasks. While the most well-known example of this discipline is quantum key distribution (QKD), there exist many other applications such as quantum money, randomness generation, secure twoand multi-party computation and delegated quantum computation. Quantum cryptography also studies the limitations and challenges resulting from quantum adversaries—including the impossibility of quantum bit commitment, the difficulty of quantum rewinding and the definition of quantum security models for classical primitives. In this review article, aimed primarily at cryptographers unfamiliar with the quantum world, we survey the area of theoretical quantum cryptography, with an emphasis on the constructions and limitations beyond the realm of QKD.

On Secure Quantum Key Distribution Using Continuous Variables of Single Photons

We analyse the distribution of secure keys using quantum cryptography based on the continuous variable degree of freedom of entangled photon pairs. We derive the information capacity of a scheme based on the spatial entanglement of photons from a realistic source, and show that the standard measures of security known for quadrature-based continuous variable quantum cryptography (CVQKD) are inad...

On the Security of Quantum Cryptography Against Collective Attacks

We present strong attacks against quantum key distribution schemes which use quantum memories and quantum gates to attack directly the final key. We analyze a specific attack of this type, for which we find the density matrices available to the eavesdropper and the optimal information which can be extracted from them. We prove security against this attack and discuss security against any attack...

SECURITY USING QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION PROTOCOLS (QKDPs)

Most cryptographic mechanisms such as symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, often involve the use of cryptographic keys. However, all cryptographic techniques will be ineffective if the key distribution mechanism is weak. Quantum Key Distribution or Quantum Cryptography is attracting much attention as a solution of the problem of Key Distribution; QKD offers unconditionally secure communicatio...

Mutual Authentication Mechanism using Pre-Shared Key and BB84 Quantum Key Distribution for Quantum Cryptography Communication

It is believed that the quantum cryptography based on quantum key distribution achieves unconditional security. However, the additional authentication mechanism applied to the quantum cryptography needs to be studied since it is difficult for the quantum cryptography alone to prevent manin-the-middle attacks. Thus, we propose two authentication mechanisms combined with modern cryptography that ...

Security bound of two-basis quantum-key-distribution protocols using qudits

We investigate the security bounds of quantum-cryptographic protocols using d-level systems. In particular, we focus on schemes that use two mutually unbiased bases, thus extending the Bennett-Brassard 1984 quantum-key-distribution scheme to higher dimensions. Under the assumption of general coherent attacks, we derive an analytic expression for the ultimate upper security bound of such quantum...
